Instructor - Julian Hertan
For many years my work has been office-based. I was doing very little physical exercise and as a middle-aged guy, was aware that I had to change my lifestyle or suffer the consequences. I met Jamie (Marsh) as an aviation trainer in the TAFE system, where we shared an office.  His warm and engaging nature quickly drew people to him.  We became good mates. When Jamie and David (Cronin) opened the club in my local area, it was a no-brainer for me to become one of their first students. After three years training under their guidance, I am significantly fitter, made tons of new friends and feel like I am part of an extended MTC family. My son (Brodie) also joined the club and trains with me twice a week, which I am loving! I have developed techniques in Taekwondo, Boxing and Mixed Martial Arts, which gives me an element of confidence and has provided many important life lessons. The club is family friendly and promotes avoiding conflict where possible and effective self-defence strategies, while working to your own potential and minimising the risk of injury. Completing my black belt grading (December 2015) was one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my life. I owe my improved health and outlook to Jamie, David, Veronica and the gang at the Martial Arts Training Company/MTC Ringwood.
