Taekwondo Gradings - 17th/21st June 2017

The Taekwondo grading for term 2 is nearly here.  Please speak with head instructors Jamie and/or David, or one of the black belts, if you have an questions about your grading.  Good luck everyone! Click here for the schedule and more information.

All Cho Dan Bo & Black Belts, please note the Saturday Grading classes from the 27th May onwards.

17th June - Musketeers (All belts) & Juniors (Beginner to Blue 1)
Musketeers - Start @ 8:30am (finish approx. 10:30am)
Juniors - Start @ 10:30am (finish approx. 12:30pm)
All normal classes are cancelled for today.

21st June - Juniors (Blue 2 to Red 3), Cho Dan Bo/Black belts, Seniors (All belts)
Juniors - Start @ 4:30pm (finish approx. 6pm)
Black belts - Start @ 6pm (finish approx. 7:30pm)
Seniors - Start @ 7:45pm (finish approx. 9pm)
All normal classes are cancelled for today.

Please note not all students are eligible to grade to the next level - we take into consideration class attendance, skill level, experience, and other factors before offering a grading invitation. Not going for a grading isn’t a bad reflection on the student’s ability. Everyone is different in how they learn and progress. As we tell the students in class; its okay if you miss a grading - there is always another grading next term and we will help them work towards that.

We recommend to students to practice at least 30 minutes each day at home where possible. The syllabus is available in the Student section on the website. If a student can’t make the grading day, we do offer an in-class grading option for an extra $20 (subject to instructor availability.)

If you or your student has any questions, please contact reception or speak with an instructor. Please ask any questions BEFORE the grading - not on the grading day as we will be very busy then.

Team Leader Day - 24th June 2017

Here at MTC we LOVE our team leaders. They give back to the club by helping out in class, and also special events like birthdays, movie nights, etc. Its a tough job as we expect a much higher standard from our team leaders - and all of them met the challenge this year. To honour and show our appreciation to the team leaders we are having a Team Leader Day where Team Leaders and Instructors battle it our for supremacy in Nerf Wars. Followed by food/drink games, plus prizes. Its a lot of fun and we encourage all team leaders to attend. For more information click this link.

Fight Day is now Fight Club - 24th April 2017

Hi everyone, Jamie and Andy have decided the "Fight Day" name wasn't working for them and have changed it to "Fight Club". All the posters and certificates have been changed to suit the new name. The next Fight Club event is on the 13th May, 2017. Please check with Jamie first to see if you're eligable to go.

Closed for Anzac Day - 24th & 25th April 2017

Hi everyone, MTC will be closed on Monday (24th) and Tuesday (25th) for Anzac Day. Students who normally come on Monday or Tuesday are welcome to make-up a class on Wednesday, Thursday or Saturday.

We remember and thank all those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom and country on this Anzac day.

Classes start tomorrow - 18th April 2017

Hi everyone, hope you all had a great holiday. Term 2 for school and MTC starts tomorrow on the 18th April. We’ll be handing out grading certificates, new belts, stripes and special awards. Make sure you’re there to get your results.

Note: Results cannot be given out if you or your child haven’t paid last term’s grading fees. Please talk with reception.

This term we have the following events, in no particular order:

* MTC InterClub
* Fight for Life
* TVI Autumn Open Championships
* First Aid Course
* David/Veronica return from Mexico
* Bring-Your-Friends week x 2

Hi everyone. MTC are running their InterClub Competition at Aqualink Box Hill. This is a fantastic competition to test your Poomsae and/or Sparring skills against other MTC competitors. Its lots of fun. You need to start training now for it.

Poomsae competitors - speak with Master David Cronin for an entry form and information.
Sparring competitors - speak with Master Jamie Marsh for an entry form and information.

Fight for Life Martial Arts Seminar - 28th May 2017

A range of specially selected instructors will teach a variety of martial arts, to give participants an appreciation of the techniques and style of each art. Each instructor is highly skilled and have extensive experience teaching at National and International seminars. First Aid Course (CPR/Level 2) - 30th April 2017

MTC are running a First Aid course for all those interested in gaining/renewing their First Aid Certificate. Please note the CPR accreditation needs to be updated annually. The instructor is a Mica Ambulance Instructor. Please click here for further information.

Hi everyone! MTC will close on the Wedneday 29th of March for the school holidays.  We'll be open again on the 18th April 2017.  Have a great holiday everyone, enjoy the Autumn weather. Try to do at least thirty minutes of exercise each day - running through your patterns is a great way to keep your fitness up. See you next term !

Weapons Instruction Seminar - 25th March 2017

MTC Movie Night - 31st March 2017

MTC Ringwood are running their bi-annual Movie Night on the 31st March. This is a chance for us to say thank you to the parents for their help and support. Cost is $30 per child. Team leaders are free (and can bring along a friend for free.) Starting at 6pm and finishing at 10:30pm. There will be games, partying, toys, prizes, Taekwondo, lots of fun, food and a movie. There are prizes for the best onesie, and feel free to bring along your favourite toy. Please ensure your child brings warm clothes if the night is cool. More information can be found here.

Belt-Up School Holiday Program - 3rd-7th April 2017

Back by popular demand, MTC Ringwood’s Belt-Up holiday program is running over the April school holidays. Ideal for students who want to accelerate their Taekwondo skills. Perfect for people who are beginners to Taekwondo (free belt/grading incl.) Great for ALL teams leaders, Musketeers and Juniors. Stacks of games, heaps of fun, lots of prizes everyday! We are also including an optional basic weapons class (only available to Juniors - sorry Musketeers.)

WHEN: 3rd to 7th April 2017.
TIME: Musketeers 10am-11am, Juniors 11am-12:30pm, Cho Dan Bo/Black Belts 11am-1pm. (Nb. Class times are subject to change based on number of students.)
COST: Musketeers $135 each, Juniors/Cho Dan Bo/Black Belts $155 each. (*$55 grading cost included - not available to Cho Dan Bo or Black belts)

REQUIREMENTS:
• Students must complete all classes to be eligible for a boost or full stripe (worth $55.)
• Registration forms are available at reception. Please fill in all the details.
• Beginners to Yellow 2 eligible for a boost/full stripe. Yellow 3 to Red 2 eligible for boost grading only. Boost/Gradings are not available to Cho Dan Bo/Black Belts.
• Payment must be finalised by 29th March 2017. If insufficient numbers the program will be cancelled and a full refund issued. Parents will be notified via SMS a week beforehand.
• Musketeers (aged 4 to 7 years), Juniors (ages 8 to 12 years).

LIMITED SPACES AVAILABLE. MUST BOOK EARLY.

Belt-Up Program - 23rd to 27th January 2017

We had an amazing class of fourteen students attend the January Belt-Up school holiday Program. We focused heavily on proper stances, punching/kicking techniques, poomsae and terminology. Many thanks to Paul for running the program, and to Michael, Dearne, Eloise, Ava, Emily and Jack for assisting. Couldn’t have done it without you guys!

TVI Moomba Open Competition - 19th March 2017

Hi everyone, TVI have their Moomba Open on Sunday 19th March. This is a fantastic competition for all students to test their skills and technique in both Sparring and Poomsae against other Victorian Taekwondo clubs. We've made some minor changes to the class timetable for 2017. We've added in a Thursday classes so check out those on the timetable page. We've also added in Weapons classes for blue belts and up. Check with Jamie, David or one of the instructors if you have any questions.
